Default turn signal stalk?

On my '95 z-28, my turn signals work but when I try to pull back on the stalk, it doesn't do anything. It seems like the stalk is not engaging or catching the switch that turns on the high beams. Does anyone know anything about this? or has had a similar problem?

Anyone ever had their highbeams not turn off because of the stalk?

I had to tear into my steering wheel column to replace an ignition cylinder. I've messed with the lever a little bit. When you pull back on the lever, it pushes a plastic piece foward which in turn pushes a metal rod that activates/deactivates your high beams.

Have you torn into that area at all or had it worked on? If there is no click or feeling of engagement like normal then I would check if the plastic piece fell out or something.
