Default Pcv Oil leak

About a week ago I noticed a leak by the balancer. I thought it was the front seal. Yesterday I saw it was leaking from were the pcv connects to the hose. My questions are... Is the pcv bad and needs to be replace, or does the larger rubber gromlet that goes over the pcv need replacing? Do they sell that piece seperately or do you have to buy the entire pcv assembly? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Just buy the PCV valve, they're like $2.00. Get the new fixed valve. I think the part is #P1009. it has a little pinhole in the big end for reduced air flow.

Now if the rubber housing or a hose is torn, then you need to fix that too.

I found the problem, it was the big rubber gromlet that raps around the pcv. I went and bought a new pvc #1199. The #1009 looked completely different. Does anyone the pvc fix #?

i think the truck "pcv valve" is just a hollow fitting with a smaller orifice. there's a couple threads on here which call the GM part number 12572717
in regards to the #1009... i think is the same thing.

whats wrong with your big rubber grommet? is it torn? the smaller rubber piece that flexes easily can be replaced with 3/8id tranny cooler line.

Haven't searched yet but why are people moving to the FO type?

the FO type is supposed to solve the usual oil consumption problem by sucking less oil into the intake. it isn't an actual pcv valve as it is just a hollow fitting, so i imagine it could pressurize the crankcase if you ever had an intake backfire.
