Bad Ujoints???
I have a 97 Camaro Z28 Auto. When I'm coasting down the road and I push the gas pedal I hear a thump/clunk under the car. Then when I let off the gas it does the same noise. I also hear it sometimes when coming to a stop. You can feel it under the car. Feels like a hard downshift. There is also a thump when shifting the car from park to D or OD with the foot on the brake. Sound like Ujoints?
Car has stock steel driveshaft and 93k miles.

My A4 '01 SS used to do this. I changed the u-joints in it and it didn't fix it. I never found out what it was, but my transmission went out at about 75k. I'll be interested to see what the replies are.

2000redSS- Did the new transmission fix it?
I replaced the transmission mount about a month ago. It was torn causing the thump when taking off.
This is a whole different type of thump/thud under the car. When I'm coasting if I touch the gas lighty= thump Letting off gas under light throttle=thump. Coming to a stop at a red light= thump. Sounds like its right under the console area. And of course the car has the out of balance steel factory driveshaft.

on my 96 Firebird 3800, I had a torque arm mount go out on the transmission, I think. It was causing some of those same problems. I also thought it might be a u-joint, but it was the torque arm mount on the tranny, and/or the torque arm itself. Just my 0.02.
