Default blown crank rod new motor

ok so i finally found out what has been keeping my engine from turning after hearing a horrible knocking noise in the engine block. It was the crank rod that finally broke. Long story short i need a new engine. Luckily i have the means to get a new ls1 motor. my question comes in parts:

1. how successful have people been with new motors?

2. since i have 2002 and the heads and intake are good, should i just go for a shortblock with rods, pistons, etc.

3. what is the average price for a new LS1 motor?

Thnx for the responses. Im just glad i finally found out what was wrong.

you mean connecting rod or the crank journal? either way if the heads cam are good then buy a shortblock, or find an lq4 6.0 to drop in.
