HELP!! Metal Flakes in Oil
Alright guys, changed my oil yesterday and I noticed that there were metal flakes in it. Here's the thing though...I added half a can of Seafoam to the crankcase on Sunday and drove it maybe 60 miles with the Seafoam in the oil. Has anyone else added Seafoam to their crankcase and had metal flakes when they changed their oil? Is it just Seafoam cleaning all the junk that's in the crankcase? Or could it be a bigger problem? I talked to a friend and he said that metal flakes in the oil usually means a fried piston ring...?

what kind of flakes you talking about?
Little fine powderlike metal, where it spreads like butter
OR
Chunks of metal that you can feel and pick up with your fingers
If its powder-like....its normal and the SeaFoam probably loosened it up.
If its chunks, it may be bad, it may still be ok.

Look, my 427ci has approx. 140,000 miles now....every other time I do an oil change I find a little bit of metal shavings on my oil drain plug. Powderized shiny particles. Its the engine eating itself alive, which is what engines are constantly doing. Its been doing that for 7 years.

Alright, sounds like I should be good.
The engine idles perfectly fine (haven't driven it since oil change). No pings, clunks, slaps, etc. that should be of concern.
