Default Car randomly not starting

so for the past few days its been happening once a day now that when my car sits for a few hours and then i go to start it, it seems like battery is dead (clicks and no power or starting) but then the trip is reset and my clock is reset also, then when i go and touch one of the battery cables (Which are tight as they can go) the car gets some power then starts and my computer is reset (ses light is on because of Cags). Might this be a ground issue or a connection to the battery problem, i have a side mount battery btw and its almost brand new. Also sometimes the idle is crazy low, usually around 900 but with this sometimes it goes down to 500 and almost dies. Alternator or battery?

I realize the battery cable bolts are tight, but can you wiggle the cables on the battery in spite of this?

you sure its not the starter. My car started doing and thought long and hard till I figured that when the car didnt randomly want to start I would tap the started and bingo would fire right up.

Yes, could be a loose ground wire. Or corrosion somewhere on the cables.

I have also seen "broken" cables. The positive or negative cable can actually snap inside the rubber coating. Like "fleet" said, can you grab the cables and intermitantly get power coming on and off as you wiggle them?

It has nothing to do with the starter as it is reseting the clock ect.... It's the battery connection.
