Default A/C issue......help!

98 formula. When a/c is turned on, loud metallic noise. It changes pitch with rpm. A/c will still freeze you out, but is still noisy. Suggestions? a/c clutch? How expensive to have it fixed? Thanks in advance..........

it is more than likely your ac compressor clutch. you will need a clutch tool although i would just change the whole compressor. you will more thank likely have to pull the compressor to replace the clutch. for the extra money it just insurance.

Stick your head under the hood. . . . Most likely the compressor bearings. . . . My Impala is a bit noisy too but still spins freely.
