Default fuel gauge bouncing

Do any of yall know what would cause a fuel gauge to bounce, it used to move around a little when I was driving on the freeway but would finally settle down after a while and now its just going back and forth from E to F. Fuel level in the tank has no effect. I was thinking the sending unit may be jacked up and its cheap to replace so thats where I was going to start just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this happening or what it could be?

I have the same problem, I don't know what it is. I was told it may be the sensor in your fuel tank itself or just a bad head unit. I'm not sure or it could be either one of these.
