Default morning idle to death

I keep having this problem at random. It seems to happen probably once out of 50 starts, always in the morning, usually when its wet or cool outside.

Car will start right up and idle normally....as soon as its in drive (automatic) the RPM's drop to 800ish then rebound to 1000ish then drop to 600ish the up to 1100 then down to 500, up to 1200 and down low enough to kill the engine. The whole process happens in about 5 seconds.

Once dead it takes 5-10 seconds longer to start it and I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it alive or it will die immediatly. After I start moving I have zero issues and can start normally the entire day or for weeks before it happens again. What could it be?
