I dont know if this is true but does a 02 have a ashtray light. I pulled my ashtray out to clean it and noticed there is a whole. It not a swith whole though.

Take off the top cover on the center console and look for the bulb. The bulb holder "clips" in to the bottom of that cover at the ashtray. It may be laying on your floor inside the console. If that's the case, you'll want to fix it. The bulb could singe your carpet.

IMO - the light is a waste and just gets real hot. (Added to heat around the shifter.) I threw mine away, which has been great.

The bulb socket is actually screwed in to a black holder, which is what clips in to the console cover. So, it will actually look like a 1" long black torpedo shaped thing on the end of some wires.
