Default Loud squeak

I have this loud squeak coming from my 2000 WS6 LS1. I thought it might be the fan belt pulleys but now I don't think so.

Here's a Youtube video.

Any suggestions on what I can check for would be appreciated.

Are you running the engine without the belt on in that video? If so, is the AC belt still on?

It has all the halmarks of any round rotating part on the front of the engine having bad bearings. You just need a mechanic's stethoscope to confirm which one. (You can also use a metal rod held up to your ear, but that's not the safest way to do it...)

Guys, both fan belts are off in that video so no pulleys are running as well as AC, water pump, alternator and ps pump.

Time to pop a valve cover for a little look or the flywheel inspections

This is not going to be an easy fix then...

I can't think of anything else that would be moving with the engine RPM and have sealed bearings. Maybe the oil pump?

That's interesting because that's a new oil pump installed by the shop that did the cam, lifters and headers. When I picked it up there was a little bit of a squeak but I figured that it was the fan belts or pulleys. It eventually got this bad.

Could a vacuum line or egr valve or something cause this?

Ahhhh - first, I'd go back to the shop and see how bad they sweat when you tell them the story.

I wouldn't think so. The pitch of the squeal is proportional to the RPM - so I'd think its a rotating part of the engine.

Maybe the shop put something back on incorrectly or shimmed improperly and you just have a rub vs. a bearing failure?

Well wouldn't ya know it. The shop is gone and they've been there for years. It may have something to do with Firebird International Raceway closing but how would I know.

Anyway, when the oil pump went out on me it ran only momentarily before I noticed that there was no oil pressure. That's when I shut it down and had it towed. I had hoped that there wasn't any damage but no more I'm afraid.

I'm buying an engine stethoscope today to try and pinpoint it.

This could be your PCV valve. Take your rocker cover oil lid off & see if it stops the noise

OK I've changed the PCV valve so that is out as a cause too. I went out and bought an engine stethoscope and the squeak is as elusive as ever. However, when I put the probe on the part shown in the pic it sounds louder than anywhere else. I can't tell if it's just a conduit to an internal problem or the part it's self. So now I'm trying to figure out what this part in the picture is? any input on that appreciated.

That is your EGR valve. I would not think its the source of your squeak. (If you unplug it, that would enable you to confirm.)

Since this is likely an internal engine issue, you might re-post in one of the engine sections to see if you get any ideas/experiences there.
