Okay fellas my pinion seal to my Diff was leaking I got new gear oil with additive and new seal about 2 weeks ago I'm getting this loud whine even at 10mph especially when slowing down it sounds like wa wa wa lol...I know the rear end sucks on these cars but how the hell is it goin out its only has 40k miles and iv never drivin it hard I baby the car I thought it was a tire or wheel bearing but those have been ruled out what do you guys think it is... When they took it off they said it was no metal shavings an they claim it looks good so what is the noise it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side in the back... It's all also a a4 TA

Because they screwed it up when they changed the seal typical bs .....good luck

Does it have to be rebuilt?

I'd find a good rear shop soon.....Don't go back where you had it changed unless you want more troubles.
