Default I think I found the cause of my battery drainage?

Alrighty, I think I finally found the reason why my battery drains itself every few days.

Late fall of last year, my exciter wire connector thing (where it bolts on to the back of the alt) was all corroded and it fell apart in my hands. I cut the nasty part off, and crimped on a solid copper 5/16ths (I think thats the size?) battery post connector? to the wire. Ever since, it's never ran at the 13v that it should. I've done some research, and this is probably my problem. I don't have a multimeter (I'll try to pick one up here soon) I'm curious as to what you guys think.
Even if its not my problem, where can I get a new exciter wire pigtail?

I had to replace mine a few years back. I just went to the dealer. $40.

Cool beans. How much of a PITA was it? Just prodding around, the two thick black wires go waw down in there.

or you could just pick up a heavy duty wire set for $95 that replaces all battery power and alt power wires.
