Default power steering hoses

I just replaced the power steering hose from the rack to the passenger side of the power steering pump. I notice that the other hose from the rack to the power steering cooler(underside of top radiator hose) is leaking.I called the dealer and they want $108.00 for a new one(#26068527). I was going to replace the power steering cooler with an after market cooler.I have read lots of threads on this.

I called autozone and other places and they say that they don't carry that hose.I was thinking of cutting the metal line and adding rubber hose to it and double clamp it.Will that work? I think that is a return line and it is not under high pressure.I don't want to order a new line from the stealership. I have done it on tranny lines before with double clamps.

I did the same thing. It works fine and doesn't leak. I inserted the metal part of the hose into the rubber part about 5 inches and put two hose clamps on it. Works great.

I forgot to mention that a have a flairing tool for metal lines (funnel type).I was going to flair the end so the rubber line was more snug.

Sounds like a perfect time to address the cooler itself:

Here's the easy way: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...-fix-pics.html

I'll be doing this tomorrow when I ditch my aftermarket cooler and replace the leaking return hose.
