I know there is a sticky but I can't figure out this problem. I had the grinding noise and I know its a stripped gear. I replaced the gear three times and even tightened the top of the headlight motor. My gears keep getting stripped. I even had a metal gear in there ! Can't figure this **** out. Please help

The sticky is in the Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 section.
I had the same issue. Some motors have tabs that are too soft to re-tighten. You probably need to get a new motor. When I did that, I was able to go to a model where you can replace the gears easily. I can buy a lifetime supply of replacement nylons for the cost of one metal gear.
