Turn signal lever

Turn signal lever
99 Z28 - My bright lights will not switch on, nor will the lever lock in place when I pull it to activate the bright lights. I've always assumed the turn signal lever was bad but wanted to confirm if anyone else ran into this experience. How difficult is it to replace the turn signal lever on these cars?

Have you checked the switch to make sure that isn't the culprit (not the lever itself but the switch it activates)?

The dimmer switch is what you are activating when you push or pull the lever forward or back. Check if it is working properly at the unit itself. Then check if the rod is actually making contact with the switch. Kick panel will need to come off and its awkward as hell to work on, but doable.

Also since I'm doing that, I'm going to replace my ignition switch too because no point of tearing all that apart and not touching it. Is there anything else I would need to check or change after replacing the ignition switch since VATS is involved?

Its been awhile since I've done it, but it should just be unscrewing the kick panel and set it aside. Both switches i believe are towards the bottom. Its been a while since i did it, but i believe i removed both braces and lowered the steering shaft to make it easier to work on (just be sure to support it with something). The switches don't have an effect on VATS, just unhook the battery, remove the plug, and unscrew it. Then reinstall the new switches, lift the column back into position, reinstall the braces, reinstall the kick panel, rehook up the battery, fire it back up, and test.
