Question exhaust help!!

My passenger cat has been making a rattling noise. My SES light has been on for a month or two and I don't have the money to fix it right now so i have just been living with it. I heard something about them being covered under an emmisions warranty. My car has 109K on it. Does the warranty still apply? If so,do i just go to the dealer then?? Please let me know. Thanks.

Probably not covered anymore but I would call a dealer just to be sure. If it is, it would save a lot of $$$ and headaches...

What about just gutting the thing? I know its not exactly legal but it would get rid of the rattle right?

Yes, it's illegal and yes it will get rid of the rattle. I'm not sure if the warranty on cats goes by years or miles.....anyone else know? For some reason I'm thinking 8 year warranty.....

Stock cats 8yrs/80K under the federal emissions warranty. Sure it's an internal rattle, sometimes 02's will make noise.

I didn't know O2's can make noise.
Why is the SES light on anyway? Have you had it scanned? Advance and Autozone will do it for free.
Does it rattle when you pound on it with a hammer or fist? Or, are you just hearing a rattle while driving? If its while your driving, it could be anything. I'd get it scanned to be sure. Replacing cats isn't cheap whether you do it yourself or not.
I have to replace the cat on my durango and I just spent $800 fixing up my SHO. Now I'm outa money. I hope my T/A doesn't give me any problems for a while!

yea, i had it scanned and it was the cat. It makes the most noise when i start it up and just kinda baby it around town. Its a nice looking car but i get alot of goofy looks becuase of the rattle its makin. maybe i should just go WOT all the time. j/k. But i think i am going to gut it. my SES light has been on for a while now and a friend has a thing that plugs into the wire harness that will make it shut off. So i think thats what i am going to do. Any other suggestions???
