My question is: can I get this code checked just like an SES light, does the airbag light throw a code?

I would say start with the simple things first like checking the fuses....

The SIR module can store codes, but you cant retreive them with a basic scan tool...you'll have to use a scan tool that communicates with all the modules...such as the TECH 2.

Well I said "such as" the Tech 2, local shops may have other brand scan tools that can communicate with all the modules. I think places like Autozone only have the ability to pull the PCM codes only.
