Default 6-10 MPG!!!! WTF!! $143 -o2's... WTF!!!

Ok, This is rediculus! My car is getting 6-10 MPG now! ...... ...After a full seafoam treatment too! Oil, Intake and in gas! I JUST changed my oil, I changed the fuel filter about 2 months ago.

I stopped by the dealership to get a price for O2's... $143 for ONE!!! You gotta be f*****g KIDDING ME!... ....Does anyone know a place online that sells Delco O2's?! I try to Stay AC Delco on that stuff, the sensors are more accurate. The car has 37,000 miles on it and I have not changed the O2's yet. I've had the car for 4 years.

The parts guy told me to see the service manager and ask if they had any ideas. He told me I prolly got a batch of bad gas and my fuel filter was restricted.

How long do NGK TR55's last? The Service Manager told me to use ACDelco's. I'll stay w/ NGK's because my fuel mileage was fine after my LT install and LS1 Edit two years ago. If the Batt was unpluged for a long time, would the computer loose it's tune? I don't think so. That's a complete PCM re-write.

Has anyone used an O2 From here? It says Delco....

It's been gradually getting worse. I clocked it this weekend, and I got 66 miles on a half a tank... 120 mile for a full tank then..

Has anyone used an O2 From here? It says Delco....

^ Bosch? I had them on my last car and had problems. I've allways been told the AcDelco's were more responsive.

I called that Caddy dealer. He said it might be computer related and the LS1 edit would not have been 'forgotten' by the PCM after a long BATT disconnect. I have not touched the MAF, except for a hand polishing job w/ 2000 grit. I cleaned it about 6 months ago. Used q-tips and was VERY gentle.

You need to scan to pinpoint the problem

would you rather spend 80 and see its something stupid or "try " 150+ on 02's they may not resolve the issue then spend more to fix it still. but if you have no codes or ses light id defeinetly start there.

Don't just start throwing money and parts at the problem. Stop and think about the symptoms-when did they first happen? Have you made any changes to the car before it all started? Do you have any fuel leaking or SES codes? Are you blowing black smoke out the pipes? Are you fouling plugs? Are all of the plugs firing? Use this logic to gradually narrow down the search before you get out the checkbook.

THe car runs fine. Plenty of power. I haven't done anything to it since it started doing this. Except fix the transmission. I don't rev it any higher than 2500, w/ less than half throttle. Usually 1/4 -1/3 throttle, motoring around town. I changed the oil last week, full Seafoam treatment. 100 miles w/ 8oz in the oil (came out BLACK!!), a full can in the tank w/ a full tank about 1500 miles ago. and 1/2 a can down the throat.

I went back to the dealership and asked about hooking it up to a Tech II and to have a Tech take it for a ride to try to notice anything odd. They said that a problem like mine w/ no codes would be hard to pin point and they'd have to run a # of tests on it.. "A number of tests" can add up to $300 easy at a dealership. I was literally WATCHING the gauge drop on the way to the dealership. = 3 miles. It dropped a little less than an 1/8 tank. About a needle width, little more.

I filled it back up at Diamond Shamrock, and took off to try to recruit for the new car club (hand out fliers).. I went to the next town over and back. 36 Miles, and I use about 2 gallons. It might have been a batch of bad gas. It seems to drop fast after the gauge hits 3/4 or a bit more. How mush fuel is completely full (gauge @ over the full mark) to when the needle starts to drop? I figured about 2 gallons. a 1/4 tank mark is about 3.5 gallons.

I'll keep posted on mileage. How long are NGK TR55's good for? -Had mine in for 16k so far.

You CANNOT use the gas gauges in the dash. They have been known to be VERY faulty. Fill the tank up to full, drive a distance and fill up again until the pump stops. Record the amount of fuel pumped in(used during driving) and divide miles by that amount of gallons used.

Sorry if it sounds confusing.

not to sound mean or handfull but youre doing a very stupid move. you need to diagnose and pinpoint the problem rather than just throw money at random things. plugs pcm and o2 sensors shouldnt be dead at 30k ish miles period.

Even if the car is 7 years old??... O2's are like batteries they can get slow over time. I hope I don't come off as agitated, I'm not.

ok, as far as the gas. I had 112 miles on the trip. I put 10.6 gallons of gas in. Happen to make a mental note of it. She typically takes 10~ish gallons @ 1/4 tank.

And I know not to throw money at things. But I've had a bunch of cars in the past. My 85 Bird was doing the same thing. -Granted OBD i vs OBD II. I threw some O2's at it and my mileage skyrocketed. The driveability is fine. The only thing I notice, prolly cause of the cold, I can see the ex more... but again, it's cold. But the other cars don't do it as much. It's regular white smoke. My coolant is fine on that note.

Come to think of it. I threw the 160 T-Stat in a couple (3) months ago. I think I started noticing it then. Although I've been filling it up once a week for a while, I just started taking note of the mileage back in November.
