Need Help Quick!!
Can someone look at their alternator wire harness and see how many wires are connected to it? It's a 4-pin connector that sits on top of the alternator, but I only have a red wire plugged into it.
I'm just making sure it is only supposed to have 1 wire, or if I'm missing a wire somewhere. i don't see any random wires hanging around, so i'm a bit confused why a 4-pin connector has 1 wire in it.
Many thanks!

Yep, just the one red wire.
It's the field/exciter wire. It provides a small amount of voltage to the alternator when the ignition is on to "excite" the alternator. It takes power to make power....without that wire, the unit will barely charge if at all.
