brake light issue (I have searched)
this is on a 94 firebird
i have an issue with my brake lights that is different than the ones that came up on search.
my issue is that when the brakes are hit the center-most brake lights go dead and the outer-most brake lights light up/get brighter.
all the tail lights work when just the running lights are on.
I have tried swapping bulbs between the two lights and I am using 2057 bulbs
all symptoms stay the same when bulbs are swapped.
the ones with the ^ under them are the ones that die
o O O R R O O o
--- ^----^
R= reverse lights
O= brake lights
o= outermost running lights

I think I had the same problem on my car, I just jiggled the negative wire on each of the sockets until each one was bright.
I know that sounds kinda dumb, but thats what did it for me, just the negative wires in each socket were loose or had a lot of grime in it, and needed to be cleaned off.
