Default High voltage

The voltage on my 2000 ta has been running pretty damn high lately it sits just under the redline, what would cause that?

bad voltage rectifier or a shorted diode in your alternator. Or if your battery is really, really old and weak it wont be able to accept as much of a charge, and soften voltage spikes and you will have a higher than normal voltage. But seeing as you said its almost at 16volts and is staying there (im assuming?) i'd get a battery and alternator test at a local dealership or auto parts store.
