I could be wronge but flashing ses is for miss fires. Nothing to do with any clutch component. What is the code?

He said the check gauges light, not the ses light. Check gauges means exactly that: volts, oil pressure, temperature. You might be a little low on oil and it sloshes away from the pickup tube in the pan right as you shift. Or maybe your pickup tube is out of place. First things first though, see which gauge is in the red when the check gauges light comes on.

I thought when you put the RPM's in the red, that the check gages light will illuminate anyway?

DUH. Your right i went through it to fast. On a side note, an electical interference can cause it to flash also. Like a arch from a plug wire arching to the temp sensor wire.

Back in 2007 when this thread started.....most people didn't know this....but when the SES light flashes it means Multiple Misfires are happening. There's a bunch of things that can cause Multiple Misfires so start with the free checks first.

Like loose ground wires.
Bad tank of gas.
Cogged fuel filter.
Low fuel pressure at higher rpm's.
Clean your MAF sensor (with spray ONLY...do not touch the sensor wires with anything)
Etc.....

......OF COURSE....first thing. Go to an auto parts place and have them read the code(s) that might be present. That might tell all.......
Maybe a clogged Catalytic......or failing 02 sensor(s)......

.

Back in 2007 when this thread was started, they were talking about "Check gauges" light not the "SES" light...
