Default Tick, Tick, Ticking noise.....

Everytime I start my car I hear a "ticking sound". Then when I put it in drive and actually drive the ticking accelerates!!! And when I am at idle it just keeps "ticking". It is more annoying then anything and I have tried to grease the belts and that doesn't help. What could it be??

Belts don't make a ticking noise.

It would help to know what kind of car this was, what year, what modifications and what transmission.

I would start by looking for an exhaust leak.

I was gonna say a loose plug/wire arcing - but if you can hear it over the loudmouth when driving probably an exhaust leak.
