Default Bad water pump?

There is a ratcheting sound coming from what sounds like directly underneath the throttle body/waterpump area. It's definitely not the tensioner. Is this my pump going bad?

Do you smell any antifreeze? Through my experience you'll always smell antifreeze when the pump goes out. Even before I can ever see it leaking it seems like I'll always smell it shortly before it starts to leak.

Well I understand that would point directly to the waterpump going bad but couldn't the noise be a bad bearing? Doesn't have to leak to go bad does it?

Yes, it can also go bad without developing a leak. You can check the bearing by taking the belt off and grabbing each side of the pulley and trying to wiggle it back and forth. If the bearing is that noisy you'll feel the play in the pulley.

If it seems fine you can also try taking the belt off and running the car a few seconds without the belt and that will tell you if it is in fact any of the pulleys. Then you just need to narrow it down by using a stethescope or something like that.
