Default melting fuse

anyone know what could cause a fuse to melt? i am thinking the wrong size fuse.

heres what up. they are 01 ls1 f-body fans i put in my s10. i read a 30 amp fuse would work great wih no problems. well the first fuse lasted about 4 months but thru the winter, till the first warm day it melted the fuse and inline fuse holder, everyone i asked just said they have never seen a fuse melt and it was probably just a bad fuse. the last one worked till yesterday(about 2 months with the ac always on) and it melted. so can someone look in there fuse box and tell me what size the fans actually need. or does anyone know what else could be the problem?

Don't know if this helps, but I have 2 COOL FAN fuses in my '01. One small 10 AMP for Cooling Fan Control, and one large 40 AMP that controls the Cooling Fan Relays...and there's 3 relays.

do you have a VOM so that you can check how much amperage that circuit is drawing?

i have a meter, but the first time it happened i was just convenced it was a faulty fuse so i never checked, plus i have ran the fans for hours with the ac with the fuse never blowing, however it just runs at 60% power with ac and 160-220 and 220+ it goes to 100% maybe thats whats melting it. but i will hook a large 40 amp fuse tomorrow and check the amps

thanks guys.
