I had moisture get into the socket, it looked like it was fried and it worked off and on. I just sprayed some brake cleaner in the socket, let it soak, cleaned it out, and bingo it worked like new. Try cleaning it out before you go through the pain and expense of replacing it. Just my $.02

They do have it. Don't ask the guy behind the counter. Go to the end of the bulbs isle and crouch down. It'll be in the middle-to-bottom row in a gray and blue backed package with a clear bumped out front. The connector itself is gray with black wires and a white foam gasket. I know all this because I've seen it there plenty of times and have bought one myself. If AutoZone is out-of-stock when you go there, PepBoys also has it.

The Part Number 85881 that UCABlackChevy provided is correct.

Here it is on AutoZone's website:
http://www.autozone.com/R,APP584725/...ductDetail.htm
(I typed in the Part Number and clicked the "Go" search button)

They do sell them at Autozone, and have replaced both of the sockets. They where located where they have their bulbs, sockets and splices and I think VIP1 is right. The car uses 3457 bulbs but the 3157 socket will work. It unfortunitely will eventually happen again unless you drill holes in the bottom of the turn signal housing. I did this about a year and a half ago. Drilled three on each and haven't changed a bulb on either one since.

Sorry for bringing up an old post but before i go to the dealer for a 3457 socket...what is the difference between the 3157 and 3457? Pretty sure 3157s emit a lot more heat and will melt the housing, that was the case when i pulled the old housings out of my gf's 2000 T/A. The side had a 3157 and the whole housing was all melted and the socket.

These are expensive sockets from the dealer...so i want to know how those 3157s are holding up?

Ok, here is what we are gonna do....You are gonna go to Autozone to the electrical isle and pick up an $8 3457 socket part #85881 then walk up to the counter for a package of bulb grease. Install new socket then insert new bulb with bulb grease on the connection. Then you are gonna paypal me the $60 dollars you saved over buying it from a dealer!

The difference between 3457 and 3157 as far as I can tell is the 3157 is a couple of shades lighter than a 3457 bulb. Anything other than that I don't know.

The 3157s are holding up fine. I have been using the same bulbs for the past 2 years. Sent you a PM to make sure you got the answer stevo92z28.

I picked up the 3157 sockets because the autoparts store was out of 3457 sockets. The auto part store where I was stationed (military), employees didn't know cars very well or as much as they should. 3157s run off the same power, similar 2 elements for daytime lights and turning, and have the same plastic keyed fitment to snap right into the housing like the stock 3457 connector that is initially on the car. Figured i would give it a shot to see how it went, and haven't had a single problem since.

The main problem with the connectors melting stuff, it's water intrusion getting to the connector. It corrodes the hell out of them and will also create more heat when the connector becomes wet from what I noticed. I have had bulbs explode from them heating up. Taking the connector off and seeing a bulb exploded means that ****** was getting super hot. But it would only do it when it was wet or a day after it rained ocasionally.

you can replace the socket without cutting the wires and soddering too. Just pop out the center part and then the 3 wires will pull out, then clean off the terminals and use the new socket housing.

To bump an old post - per Sylvania:

Though parts 3157, 3457, and 4157 look similar, they are made to different operating specifications and are not considered interchangeable. We recommend that you replace with the same part number that was used as original equipment. With that said, here are the operating specifications for each of the three part numbers listed:

Lamp Filament Voltage Wattage Lumens
3157 Minor 14 8.26 37
3157 Major 12.8 26.88 402
3457 Minor 14 8.26 37
3457 Major 12.8 28.54 502
4157 Minor 14 8.26 37
4157 Major 12.8 28.54 402

So, the 3457 is the brightest bulb (and stock) for our application by 100 lumens.
