Friend's 98 Vette has three blinkers????

Friend's 98 Vette has three blinkers???? Was in the car today, and there is an odd clicking that sounds almost EXACTLY like a blinker clicking "tick, tock, tick, tock..." but just a SHADE slower (with the actual blinker on they aren't synchronized). It is a constant rate, but it's not always there. It's coming from right behind the speedo. Any ideas?
