Default Help Identifying Problem

2001 Monte Carlo SS with ~65000 miles. The car simply doesn't accelerate properly and it appears to be either a transmission problem or a sensor problem. What happens is the car stumbles and hesitates during acceleration and makes a very strange noise (which is why I haven't ruled out transmission). You can have the pedal mashed to the floor and it won't rev past 3000 rpm or even be WOT it seems at that lower rpm, which is why I think it's a sensor. Could the throttle body be bad on this vehicle? I am not sure what the problem is but it makes it difficult to drive in traffic and outright dangerous on the highways as merging power and passing power are non-existant. Any and all suggestions or experiences would be much appreciated, thanks!

Clogged catalytic converter. This is a common problem on those cars. It is covered for 8 years 80K miles, so take it to the dealer to have it replaced for free .
