Default Can oil pressure be to high

Ive noticed that my oil pressure comes close to maximum reading on my gauge when at WOT. Is this a problem? What if any toll does this have on my gaskets?

Thanks in advance

Too much pressure is not good. Pressure is the resistance to flow so if your pressure is too high the actual flow of oil through the passages might be lacking some. Do you run a thick oil?

Also the stock gauge/semding unit sucks too, might want to try hooking up a mechanical gauge to get an accurate reading.

Oil pressure is a resistance to flow; consequently "external" components, such as gaskets; see very little pressure; other than internal engine operating pressure. Too high oil pressure will wash bearings. "Wash" is a term for bearings actually moving at high RPM from the addional pressure of the oil flow. Your greatest risk is having a bearing turn on a rod or crank. there are a number of factors that will attribute to excessive pressure; bearing clearence, oil pump set up, and flow(viscosity). If your pressure is not greater than 60-65 psi at high rpm; you really do not have an issue.
