Default Fuel gauge problem

my fuel gauge randomly will jump back and forth from the correct reading to empty or full causing the check gauges light to come on. Anyone know what to inspect or look for? Thanks

Is this just gauge related or something that needs to be fixed? It slowly will go to the regular fuel level after a few minutes, as long as my fuel pump or anything important isnt affected Ill wait until this weekend to fix it..Thanks for the help
