Default Windshield ding

I have a tiny crack on the windshield. It's probably an inch or less. Should I just have a shop fix it so I don't have to replace the whole windshield? Or just do it myself?

I had a crack like that on my passangers side and it never spread. About a year and 1/2 later, another stone hit, my drivers side, it didnt crack the gladd but made a jagged line right in my view!

I finally got tired of the windsheild slowly getting beaten up, and had it replaced. My insurance company covered the cost.
