Default cooling issues

the other day i was dirvin home from work and i see my temp gauge is pegged out. i pull over and pop the hood, nothings boiling nothing seems incredibly hot but the fans are on. i wait for about one minute or so turn the ignition on and its at operating temp and stays there with the a/c on til i get home. today on the way to work it started gettin hot while i was drivin again but then i caught a redlight and the temp dropped like 30 degrees any clues, im stumped.

Is the plastic piece under your bumper OK? It's weird that stopped you're ok (when the fans are doing all the cooling) but then at speed it's bad (when you rely on airflow)

thermostat got stuck closed maybe? or an air bubble in the system.

i was thinking a bad temp sending unit? how does an air bubble get in a cooling system, i didn't know one could just form without the cap being open.

weird,
have you checked your radiator cap,
I just replaced mine 'cause it was losing pressure.
