Default Oil Level Sensor('97 LT1)

I was talkin to a fellow co-worker today. Who has this 97 Camaro Z28 and he was askin me if, I knew where he could get a replacement oil level sensor for his malfunctionin level sensor that is metal(like the OEM) or not plastic???

It appears he's checked w/ the stealership(and maybe the internet) and they have told him the replacement sensor is constructed totally of plastic. That the OEM pt# has been superseeded w/ this plastic sensor. Even the part that screws into the block is made of plastic now.

He wants to find the metal threaded(housing) OEM version for a repl. for his malfunctionin sensor. That has tripped the indicator lamp (on the dash) to start staying on even w/ a good oil level.

What has been your guys experience w/ finding a replacement sensor for the LT1's???

Thanks in advance,
Don

The one I got from Advanced for my 94 Z was metal on the bottom and the top unit was plastic.

The entire thing is not made of plastic and the other way around
