Default Slp Underdrive Pulley ???

Purchased a SLP pulley and was curious if any of you guys just removed & installed the pulley with an impact wrench ? The instructions say to torque the old bolt to 240 ft. lbs, them remove the old bolt & install the new one & torque it to 37 ft. lbs & then tighten to 140 degrees. I know the LS engines are assembeled completely using a torque angle tool & not by ft. lbs. I have the tools to do this myself at home with the impact wrench & puller but do not want to destroy the crankshaft snout by not following the correct procedure which would mean taking it to a dealer that has the correct torque angle wrench and transmission locking pin.

I would follow the instructions man. If you don't have a torque wrench just rent one from a parts store. Not worth the risk IMO.

Loctite and a 1/2inch impact gun. You'll never come close to that 140* after you torque it to 37ft lbs. I tried to go by the procedure and couldn't get the bolt to go that far. after I did the 37ft lbs I used a sharpie marker to mark out 140* on the bolt. I hit the bolt with my 1/2 inch impact gun (which is rated to 600ft lbs) and it could only turn the bolt about 5/8ths of the way to the 140* I had marked out.

I don't know much about the installation process but once you get it on you will thank yourself for purchasing it. To be safe just follow the instructions.
