Default True duals... worth it?

ok so I'm getting ready to have my exhuast done and the guy who did the duals on my silverado 5.3L did a perfect job and is willing to a true dual set up on my new ss for about the same price as a gmmg exhuast system. I've read the sticky on true duals and like them but i want it to exit out the rear im set on that now my only turn off is the ground clearnance I've tried searching for other threads but nothing really helps me in my choice. so i guess what im asking is what give the best agressive sound (not to agressive i hate raspy glass pack types) and best flow for top power gains. It will be ran off TSP 1 7/8" headers with no cats. well hope you guys can help thanks ps this is my first camaro/ls1 and im only 19 so i wanna spend the lil money i can save as best as possible. thanks again.

your going to make more power with true duals. go to ls1sounds.com to check out some dif. muffler sounds. I run moroso spiral flows and i like em a lot. U could also do some Borla mufflers or something (bullet style)

oh yeah if your just getting a true dual system thats dumped before the axle just save your money and get the TSP true dual system.. Almost half the cost of a GMMG cat back system

I went with 2 10 series flowmasters all the way back over the axle with pretty good clearance and they sound freaking bad *** at wot.

Well i thought about the TSP dual but i want it to exit out the rear because my "dream" is to make 450-500rwhp if i can afford it and still have to car look as good as it does off the show room floor. and i love the classic look of two pipes out the rear you know?

Well by the look of your name im assuming you own an SS, correct? True Duals dumped at the rear look awesome on a camaro, but on a t/a the way the back bumper is it looks odd. I loved the way it looked in the beginning, but then i realized without the tips out the rear my car looks weird.

*Oh and don't forget you can always get true duals continued out the rear. Alot of people have done it and it looks fine.

if i could do it all over again.. id go with a y pipe and a cutout. so much simpler and less headache down the road.. even for suspension pieces such as torque arms.. i build my own true duals. my car sounds great.. but with a cutout at WOT who cares. its gonna sound good. also true duals may make more power but they make up for the added power with added weight if you do a out the back setup. just my humble opinion.

ive had ppl tell me its the best sounding stock motor ls1 theyve ever heard.. still wasnt worth it. ground clearance sucks also. price you pay.. (we have lots of railroad track crossings in my area) my car is quiet at idle and part throttle, even hwy. but it barks real hard at WOT. its perfect.. but its heavy, and though it was fun to construct for a guy like me, its still heavy. id rather go faster myself. oh btw for my setup i had to cut out part of the spare tire compartment and add my own metal to let that passenger side muffler clear. it wasnt easy.

i went with an o/r H pipe and dynomax bullets. the sound is great, clearance is even better and the price made it all worth it! the duals dont crackle and pop like most catbacks. plus i havent had hardly any drone issues

There is a maroon camaro on ls1sounds.com with duals and he is running two magnaflow mufflers and it sounds mean. I think he is from Hawaii. There are a lot of muffler choices so just listen for the sound you really want.

TSP's are the best budget exhaust setup i have found, hands down. here is a pic with the clearance of mine:

and a sound clip with the moroso spiral flows

true duals is the ONLY way to go on an ls1 based engine

oh and before everyone starts in about them being too loud...my car is quiet...more quiet than 90% of the Dodge Rams with flowmasters around here

it's all in the muffler, mine are 2 1/4" flowtech terminators exiting the rear, you can hear the cam, its very very deep and throaty, but not loud, wakes up when you're full throttle but still not obnoxious

I couldn't be happier my 3" true duals! They never scrape and I love the sound. To get equal amount of hp released through a y-pipe you sure would have to get one fat pipe.

Exactly! There is no placement for pipes on Camaros so they just "stick out there"

I like the look of no tips on my Camaro.

I'm running true duals w/ x-pipe dumped. load too. free's some exhaust flow so it will increase some HP at WFO.
