Default Oil Pressure Sender Threads?

Hi All,

After searching, all I can find out about the threads is that they're "M16-1.5". I checked the stock sender and the threads are not tapered like a pipe thread, so how do they seal against leakage? I don't want to wait on ordering the Autometer adapter (besides, I need 1/4" NPT, not 1/8" NPT), so can I make one from a standard M16 bolt? Do I need to machine a groove for an O-Ring?

The stock sensor uses a washer, like one a spark plug, to seal.

Yup, found it stuck to the bottom of the factory sender.

Would you believe I could not find a M16-1.5 bolt anywhere in Beaumont, TX (population ~ 150,000), so I ended up destroying a perfectly good stock sender. Busted the head off, lathed it down, and tapped it for 1/8 NPT (sorry, that was what was needed, not 1/4 as previously stated). Came out A-OK!
