Default tensioner pulley

Hey guys,
I just finished installing my new 408 in my SS, it's not tuned yet, but I've been trying to put a couple miles on it first. My car keeps throwing the main belt. The first time it happened when I downshifted and got on it a little bit. I put a new belt on the car and now it happened again while just backing up. The belt looks like it tracks straight and all of the pulleys look true. The only thing I can think is that my tensioner pulley might be worn out (33K miles) and can't handle the torque of the new motor? Is this possible? What do you guys think and what do you suggest? Thanks for your help.

Jeff

I would be surprised if the tensioner is worn out after 33k miles, but I guess anything is possible. Do you have an underdrive crank pulley? I have heard a few people w/ the asp ud pulley have the same problems. If not, you may have to look into a solid tensioner like the Katech seen here
