Default thermostat question?

I need a 160 stat to fit my 2002 ex Holden LS1.Corvette one seems completely different,mine all in one piece?

I believe the one piece is 2003 and earlier. 2004 they switched to the two piece design?

thought there was a way to swap in the thermo peice by seperating them since it by itself is cheaper.
