I wouldn't worry about getting a MAF you might have problems and the stock one can handle about 470 RWHP give or take a lil.
It would probly be a good idea to get a tune if you've never had a tune. I had my car tuned before I did my LTs/ORY/LS6 intake and it still runs good because it wasn't running stock settings but I know it would run even better with another tune.
If you do those mods and are doing the H/C soon I would hold off and get the tune once everything is done. Good luck.

bellow is 99.9% visual mod. and its been linked with cracked lids due to not enough flex when the engine torques up.
inexpensive mods:
throttle body bypass kit from BMR. i realize you can do the same with hardware store parts, but the kit is like $15 and its nice an clean. and easy for clueless family members to buy.
you can't go wrong with gift cards to Jegs or Summit. they sell lots of things that you could put the $$ towards.
hell tell them to go buy a case of Mobile 1 oil.
detailing products are always good.
