Default what is this called?

This is some sort of vaccum hose I assume? What's it called and what's it for? Mine is leaking heavily. Lately the motor has been surging at idle. I'm hopeing this is the cause. Thanks for looking and any replies!

Well, I can't find any way to post the pic, so I guess I'll describe it the best as I can. Here goes:
Behind the throttle body, on the passenger side, there is a vaccum hose coming out of the manifold throttlebody neck. It's about 2 1/2 in. long and about 3/8-1/2 in. diameter. Again, thanks for answers!

sounds like the PCV hose to me too
it wouldnt "leak" really, but if you think its sucking in air, from the outside of it, just cover it with something like tape, silicone, etc.

btw, what exactly do you mean leaking?
