Thumbs up Quick ? about texas speed y pipe

I have a 2000 ss with lts and a texas speed 3inch catted ypipe and loudmouth one but my uncle was telling me with 3inchs that would slow it down cause of no back pressure true or false i need to know if im gaining or losing?

i thought back pressure was determined by your muffler. plus ive seen where people have made more power with open exhaust than closed. The 3in y-pipe has to be better than the flattened stocker

Backpressure is one of those exhaust myths that old timers like to harp on, but don't really understand. Unless you're trying to put a 3" pipe on a 3 cyl geo metro motor, you're only going to improve performance, not loose anything. The stock pipe was choking the hell out of your motor.

3" is perfectly fine.
