Default Power steering pump issues

On the way home this morning I was going through an intersection when a guy blew the stop sign and almost hit me. I had to slam on the brakes and cut the wheel hard right. Needless to say after I start driving again, the pump begins to whine when i turn the wheel. I put the car up on jacks and added just a tad of power steering fluid, turned the wheel 5-6 times and no noise, but as soon as I put the car back on the ground and turn the wheel, you can hear the pump whining again. Is the pump crapped out or can I fix it?

No it's the pump & it's not gonna get better. You eventually are goning to have to replace it.
