Depends on it you're trying to keep unmetered air out of the engine.

I have one just like that made by all star performance and i kept throwing multiple cylinder misfire codes so i pluged it up were the breather element goes and never had a problem since. But the unmetered air will definitely cause the check engine light to come on.
