squealing belt
First off my belt like sto squeal ALOT. Anyone know why it is doing that? I have been told to put Di-electric grease on it. I have tried doing that, but the squeal comes back after a week or so. I just replaced the belt tensioner and that didn't help either. The belt is also fairly new too. Any ideas?

First thing...
You don't put **** on that belt. AT ALL. even that belt dressing stuff is crap.
If your belt is squealing, make sure that it isn't all cracked to hell. After that, get a good view and make sure that all of your pulleys are lining up properly.
Once you've replaced the belt. I would start looking at the tensioner and idler pulleys.

Ya like i said I just replaced the tensioner, and the belt is not cracked, it is basically brand new. The squealing is kinda on and off. I noticed today when it is cold outside it takes it like 10 min of the car being on before it starts to squeal. Any thoughts?

I say you need a new belt, or atleast buy one, try it on and see if the squeeking stops. If it doesn't, return it and try something else. Putting that stuff on your belt, or WD-40 might stop it for a while, but the chirping will return.

Dude did it just start this, cause mine has done it since pretty much new, 23,000. I kinda just accept it, I mean **** is just going to make noise, as long as the car is running fine just accept it. Some things can be fixed but sometimes squeaks and such are just part of life w/ these cars

My car is the same way, it makes noise when its cold and goes away after about 10 minutes. I also put a new tentioner on it and still the same. I replaced the belt with a new one and it went away for and 2 or 3 thousand miles and now its back. It doesn't eat the belts up or anything though. I do agree, do not put anything on the belts. Even hitting water holes in the rain can throw a belt off, think about the silicone and all that other stuff thats in the dressings. And motor oil??? I've seen it all now. I can't believe that didn't throw it off. Your luck is better than mine.

Maybe I missed it above, but have you for sure narrowed it down to the main belt and ruled out the small A/C belt. If not I would take one off and see which one is squeaking. I see you replaced the tensioner how does the idler feel.

My car has a similar problem. It squeaks when its warm or humid out. But never when it's cold. My belts all seem to be in good shape. My a/c refrigerant is low....don't know if that has anything to do with it. Where is the idler pulley? I'm new to LS1's and don't my way around this engine much. How would one's pulleys be out of line if they've never touched them?

My car also is doing that. The problem is addressed in a TSB. (00-06-01-008 MAR 2000 Accessory Drive Belt - Squeak/Chirp Noise)...but that is as far as I have found. I would really like to actually read the TSB to see what the fix is.

That's exactly what I was gonna say. I have seen a lot of people change out the serpentine belt, tensioners,...etc and it was just the A/C belt. I'm willing to bet that is your problem.
