Default How does the stock catback sound with muffler delete?

Little tight on money right now and plan to put a catback on the car further down the line. But am a little impatient and would like a more a agrressive sound (other then a cutout) would cutting the muffler off of my 98 Z28 sound like crap/really loud or is it doable? I tried searching for sound cllips but couldn't find any. So have any of you heard this before? Thanks

If it's your DD then it'll probably be too loud. If you want a taste of how it'll sound, disconnect your intermediate pipe from the Y. Some people will tell you that an unmuffled LS1 sounds like ****, but I disagree... it's just very loud.

My advise would be to get a manual cutout for $50, and let that hold you until you have the money for a nice catback.

I have a flowmast catback and an electric cutout. It was about 300 installed. Best mod I ever did, besides the cam. The headers and cam made the rasp go away and it sounds great. Check my posts for track results, they were with the cutout open.

You will be surprised how loud it is. Stock muffler is big and heavy built for killing sound. Doesn't sound real good in IMO with no muffler.
