Default Is this a bad idea......

I have to make a cross country trip, roughly 1800 miles. I am having longtubes installed, will driving this far without a tune be a bad idea? There are no tuners within at least 300 to 500 miles of my location. Please any advice would help. Thx

You will be completely fine, just long tubes wont lean out your afr enough to hurt anything.
If your going with ORY and no rear o2 sims you'll get a check engine light until you tune out the codes.

I agree with conor... just to be safe though I wouldn't put my foot into it too much till you get it tuned.

Thx fellas, i know it is recommend right to get tune asap. I didnt want to waste a ton of money in gas or risk any harm to my motor. I plan on getting her tuned in either VA or NC along the way. After the tune and long tubes would it be safe to say i'll gain a solid 15hp and 15tq on a 3.37 geared a4?

your gas mileage will suck until you get the tune done. after my longtube install i went from 13-16 average mpg to over 22 average mpg. as for hurting anything, nothing but your wallet at the pump.

before getting my tune done i did a full exhaust, lid and a few other little mods and gained 45 hp and about 60 torque.

I would say you will definitely see more than 15RWHP gain with LT's and tune. especially going from the stock 99 manifolds.
It all depends on how far your tune if off right now as to how much more you will gain.
