Default LS1 vs LS2 heads

Hi guys - I have the opportunity to put a new set of LS2 heads on my 99 LS1 engine for really cheap (probably free). Can anyone give me some thoughts on whether this is a good thing to do or not..? Obviously I am looking for better performance. And is there any problems with doing it from a "fit " perspective?

Thanx in advance for your input..!!

Default LS2 heads

Well ,the first thing you need to do is verify that they are in fact LS2 heads. If they are, they should be #243 castings. These heads have D shaped port exhaust. These are essentially the same head as LS6, less the hollow stem Intake and sodium filled exhaust valves .LS6 had yellow springs good til .570 lift also. These heads are very desirable and would be a defiant upgrade. They flow very well and will give you a bump in compression also.So if you can get them for little or nothing go for it!

very good upgrade. will raise scr. over stock heads. if u mill them, it will raise compression even more. they should read 243 or 799 heads. both castings are considered ls2 type heads

Thanx for the replies guys..!! They are def LS2 heads from a 2007 Corvette with less than 2000 miles on them. Sounds like it might be a good winter project for me..!! Then it will be back to the dyno for a retune next spring.

Thanx again.....you guys are the best..!!!
