Did you make sure the exciter wire isn't damaged? Is it plugged in all the way? If you start the car and remove the battery, does it keep running? (It should).

Default exciter wire

checked the exciter wire....got 9.45 going into the plug w/the key on....when i stick the prob in the front side of the plug 0.0 .Then if i wiggle the wire I get voltage to the front side of the plug.I think the wire is broke inside the plug.As 4 the 9.45 reading not sure if i have the metter set right.....i got it on DCV @ 20.0.....can i take the plug apart ???

You can get a new connector off ebay for a decent price:

I think the dealer charges $40 for it.
