Default gutting cats passing inspection obdII

hello everyone. quick question. if i gut my cats will i fail an obdii test?? i live in MA. and the guy i go to just plugs it in and if it passes, it passes.

I would imagine you would probably fail. Cats help filter out a lot of the crap that makes you fail tests. I could be wrong though. I live in Ohio we don't have emissions stuff

yes gutting the cat will cause a code in the pcm along with a check engine light. If i where you i would gut them and then get a tune and tune out the rear o2 sensors

It will probably fail, but if you're lucky it may run clean enough to pass. Where I live in Ohio we still have to be checked.

I assume you mean you want to gut the stock cats. Chances are you will break a few of the studs that fasten the cats to the stock exhaust manifolds when you try to remove them. In my opinion the only reason to touch those studs/bolts is to take all the stock exhaust off and replace with a good set of headers and cat back.
